Sectionals/Counties
For the first time in school history, the girls are not only sectional champions, but they are heading to states! They had a hard fought battle against Geneseo to win by 2 points. Each runner played a critical role as one switch in places between an Arkport and Geneseo runner would have led to a 6th runner tie. Hope managed to capture 3rd place overall followed by Lizzie in 7th. A late push from NV, Liv and Grace landed them 20th, 22nd and 26th! Paige and Jacey ran great efforts to run PRs and place 70th and 84th. It is astonishing seeing the work pay off for these girls as they were putting in 10 plus mile long runs during the summer. They managed to win counties and sweep their league meet schedule as well, so our senior girls leave the team behind as the strongest in school history.
On the boys side, they won the county meet with relative ease, but had to fight against Oakfield at sectionals. The boys went for it, led by Ibra taking 3rd overall with an excellent time of 16:05. Salim muscled through the course and wound up 8th, while the young crew of Micah, Alex, Adam, Tim and Ronan placed 22nd, 33rd, 36th, 42nd and 67th. Of all of the scoring teams, the average grade of ours had to be the lowest. Combining two 8th graders, 1 freshman, 1 sophomore, 1 junior and 2 seniors gives an average of 10th grade, but the real kicker is the 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 runners will be back next year - most of them for 2-3 more years! This team really went for it and came up short against an excellent Oakfield team.
Looking forward to the state meet, I will put up some rankings here for your viewing pleasure.
The boys' side will be a bit easier as we only have one individual competing. Ibra goes into the meet ranked 12th. He beat at least one of the runners in front of him this season in head-to-head competition. He will look to break in to the top 10 and potentially earn himself a berth to the Federation championships. There are two other sophomores (Oliver Simmons and Ethan Verbosky) that he will look to chase down as he will see them for two more seasons. Ibra races at 11:00am with awards at 12:00pm.
On the girls' side, they will enter ranked 2nd behind South Lewis (last years champions). The girls race will go off at 9:30am with awards at 10:30am. Going in to the meet, they are ranked:
Hope - 21st
Lizzie - 29th
Liv - 41st
NV - 59th
Grace - 60th
In team scoring, the girls are ranked 2nd by 23 points behind South Lewis and 18 points ahead of Delhi. Finishing top 2 gets you a coveted state plaque, as does finishing in the top 20 individuals. The girls already launched a massive upset to make it to the state meet, so they are looking to do it once again to chase down the elusive state title.

League Meets
I don’t have all of the official updates, but as of now both the boys and girls are undefeated in league meets. The boys have continued their win streak and pushed it to 49-0 in the last 25 league meets. They have not lost a league meet since 9/27/2019. The boys are now 58-3 and the girls are 45-10 since coach Chi took the reins. Both teams are 8-0 for the season (before their league meet tonight, of course!).
McQuaid
As per always, McQuaid did not disappoint! Mario started the day as our lone runner in the modified race, and he crushed it! His time of 11:00.0 was only 20 seconds off of the top 10 all time list!
The girls took to the course next and shook up the state rankings! They finished 7th as a team, beating out NYS Class D 4th ranked Pulaski. The girls were only behind Geneseo and Clymer-Sherman-Panama as far as Class D NYS teams. They were led by the 2nd, 3rd and 5th fastest McQuaid times in school history by Lizzie, Hope and Alivia. NyVeah and Grace rounded out the top 5 scorers with excellent an excellent finish and huge season bests for both girls. Paige and Jacey were the 6 and 7 displacers, both finishing in personal bests.
In the Section V competition, the girls would have finished 6th, 7th, 14th, 32nd and 35th. Lizzie and Hope would have been the last 2 individual qualifiers and the team would have placed second. With a month of the season remaining, the girls will look to close the gap on Geneseo and try to secure multiple individual state qualifiers.
On the boys side, the team placed 5th overall and led all Section V Class D teams. They notched a win over Oakfield, but they were missing a top 5 runner in Eli Williams. Ibra made a huge jump forward to shatter the school record at McQuaid in an incredible 15:30.9. Salim jumped up in the rankings to 7th all time. Micah, Tim V and Alex V all had huge performances and personal bests which saw all three finish under 18:00. They finished within 30 seconds of Oakfield's #3 runner on the day. If they can bridge that gap over the next month, they will be a force to reckon with at sectionals. Adam made a big jump to break 19 minutes, and Johnny ran under 20 for the first time. In the JV race, James made a huge jump to break 20:00 while Ronan, Tucker, Cam K and Medium Tuck all ran personal bests. Considering Ibra, Micah, Adam, James, Ronan, Tucker and Medium Tuck all have at least 2 more seasons of XC, with some having 4 more seasons of XC, the team looks set up for dominance in years to come.

Early Season Meets
The season is back and the wolves are up and running! The teams started out with a nice showing at Dash in the Dark and backed it up with a solid effort at VVS for the Pre-State meet. I don't have all of the league meet results, but it looked like both teams swept for league meets 1 and 2.
VVS Invite:
The girls took to the course first and finished 8th in race 4. The overall results had them placed them 29th out of 61 complete teams, but more importantly they were 5th of the Class D teams that raced. They were led by a 5k PR from Hope, followed by strong races from Lizzie, Alivia, NV, Grace, Jacey, Zoey, Carly and Lily. Last year the girls were 28th out of 45 complete teams, so this was a big step forward. Hope ran over 7 minutes faster than last year, Lizzie dropped 54 seconds, Alivia dropped 3 minutes, NV dropped 7 seconds, and the rest of the crew ran great times on a challenging course. The current sectional and state rankings are below (for those available on Tullyrunners):
Hope - 3rd, 17th
Lizzie - 7th, 31st
Alivia - 14th, 65th (approximately)
The early contenders for class D for section V looks to be Geneseo. Their girls had an excellent showing at Dash in the Dark and backed it up with a strong win at West Seneca. They are comparable to our girls 1-5, considering Amelia has not raced a 5k in an invite yet. It is shaping up to be a great race this Saturday at the pre sectional invite.
On the boys side, Ibra and Salim led the charge to a team finish of 23rd in the merge (sandwiched between powerhouses Fayetteville-Manlius and Tri-Valley). They finished as the top class D team in the meet, but have a few other teams knocking at the door to overthrow their 4 consecutive sectional titles. Ibra opened his season 90 seconds faster than last fall, while Salim dropped 34 seconds and Johnny dropped 40 seconds. The team was bolstered by strong efforts from Micah, Tim, Adam, Tucker, Cam, Ronan, James, Tucker W, Alex K and Kaleb. Of those boys, only Cam has run a season of varsity cross country so there is a massive potential of upside. Alex V also adds a new element of depth to the team. For current sectional and state rankings:
Ibra - 4th, 21st
Salim - 5th, 34th
Micah and Tim aren't far off of that list, and a strong race at Letchworth this weekend could show a few other schools that the wolves are back in full strength. Graduating Pierce, Braydon, Jacob, Dylan and Alex from the top 7, and with Rayhan moving schools, made the team unranked entering the season. This means the boys enter as an underdog behind Oakfield, Bloomfield, HAC, and Geneseo. In the team rankings, Pine Plains (Stissing Mountain?) made a massive jump to top the state rankings. After 3 years of getting beaten up on by Tri-Valley, it seems the boys of Pine Plains are looking to establish themselves as the top team in the state.

Summer Update
The mid summer mark is here as the count down to XC is less than a month away! As the teams plug away at summer training and build their foundation for the Fall, initial rankings are starting to flood the internet.
Yes - I am going to continue to keep this site updated as long as I am able to! It might look a bit different because I am approaching it with an outside perspective, but Strava helps shine some light on what all of the runners are doing to prep for an excellent cross country season.
On the girls side, they come in ranked 2nd for Class D in Section V, and 7th in NYS. They will enter the season ranked directly behind Addison in both rankings. Last Fall they put up an excellent fight at the sectional course to place 2nd, even while missing the prospective 5th runner in Hope. This year, the landscape of the team will look a bit different as it is the first time in 5 seasons that the top runner of the team might not have the last name Franklin (to be decided, Carly is a beast!).
Based on last seasons results, Lizzie will be paving the way, followed by NV, Liv, Hope, and Paige. The individual profiles of our returning varsity girls are below.
Lizzie Young comes in ranked 3rd in the county, 6th in Section V, and 35th in NY. Lizzie posted PRs of 2:39 for the 800m, 5:22 for the 1500m and 11:31 for the 3000m this year.
NV Stewart comes in ranked 4th in the county, 10th in Section V, and 61st in NY. She posted personal bests of 2:39, 5:37 and 12:22 during the outdoor season.
Liv Kocan comes in ranked 7th in the county, 15th in Section V, and 76th in NY. Liv posted personal bests of 2:42, 5:50, and 12:52 during the outdoor season.
Hope Troutman had an excellent first half of her 2022 XC season but ended her season just before counties due to injury. She is going to make a big leap forward this season based on her indoor and outdoor performances. Hope ran a 2:32 and 5:18 for her 800 and 1500m.
Paige Pfaff had a great first season in 2022, and looks to make a big jump in the 2023 season. Paige improved her 3000m by 44 seconds and her 1500m by 9 seconds (6:04 and 13:06). She also notched a massive personal best of 2:50 indoors for the 800m. Paige will be a big factor for the team this Fall.
Lily Stauring is back in action after her first varsity seasons. She has transformed herself into an entirely different runner and will look to crush that 30 minute barrier.
New additions to the team are a huge factor, especially for smaller school districts. Jacey Payne, Grace Hartman, Zoe Covell and Carly Franklin are all on varsity for the first time and will look to make an immediate impact.
During her outdoor campaign, Jacey set PRs at all distances including an excellent 3:05 800m, 6:14 1500m and 13:35 3000m. Jacey is definitely better as the distance goes up, so the 5000m seems like her forte.
On the boys side, it is the first time in 4 years coming into the season completely unranked. The underdog story has always been part of the team mantra, and this year it takes on a new meaning. The limited ranking information I have is below!
Salim Ford enters as 1st in the county, 5th in Section V and 20th in NY. Salim posted PRs of 2:17 for 800m, 4:53 for 1600m and 10:35 for the 3200m. He is a state medalist from 2021, and will look to improve on that performance to help bring the wolves back to the state meet.
Ibra Ford enters as 2nd in the county, 6th in Section V and 25th in NY.
