NXR NY @ Bowdoin State Park
After a long few weeks of traveling every weekend, the season has come to an end. Last weekend (11/23) Jeremiah had the opportunity to compete at the Federation championships at Bowdoin State Park. He was 1 of 40 individuals in New York State selected to compete in the race, and he finished 54th out of 250+ competitors, featuring the best individuals and team in the state. He ran a blazing time of 17:04, which is fantastic for how difficult the course is.
The last race of the season was new territory for the entire team as we made the trek down with a caravan of parents to compete at the Nike Cross Regional-NY championships. There were many lessons learned on this trip - leave earlier next year, get to the course before 3:30 (they threatened to lock everyone in the park if we weren't gone by 4:15) and maybe skip the "flashy" Nike pre-race banquet.
Fortunately, everyone made it to the start line in one piece although the weather was pretty chilly. The open boys race went off first, Braydon ran a very solid 20:37, followed by Andrew in 24:30, Hench with a PR of 28:41 and Johnny with a PR of 31:34.
The girls were next, and we were very fortunate to bring along some of the excellent athletes from the girls soccer team. Guilianna paved the way, surpassing every goal we had to finish 9th in the open race, just 8 seconds behind Faith from Addison. Jenna placed 30th with a time of 22:01, Emily Pfaff finished in 24:15, Chloe bounced back to run 24:58, then Mackenzie, Paige and NyVeah in 25:46, 25:48, and 26:20. SyAnna, Hannah and Alexis rounded out the girls team. I usually like to take the "Speed ratings" from Tullyrunners with a grain of salt, but I wanted to see how Guilianna, Emily, Paige and Hannah's performances stacked up against the rest of Section V. Guilianna would have finished close to 2nd at sectionals, and in the top 25 in the state for class D, while Emily would have placed in the top 40 at sectionals. It really was an impressive showing, and very cool so see that the ability to have a girls team that is just as competitive as the boys team is walking through the halls of Arkport. After dropping in the results from Chloe, Emily and Guilianna to sectionals, the girls team would have finished in an almost even tie with Honeoye for second, the edge going to the 6th runner which would have been Chloe over their 6th runner.
On the boys side - they were coming down from their peak fitness at the state meet two weeks ago. Without going into too much boring detail, the goal race of the season was to run well at sectionals and states, so a handful of the boys had been taking time off or preparing for another sport since XC was officially over. With that in mind, Jeremiah went out and bettered his time from last week (17:03), while the rest of the boys finished between 18:50 and 19:20 (the gap from 1st-5th runner at sectionals and states were both 1:32 - this weekend it was 2:14). They finished 22nd as a team out of 28, just 1 point behind the 21st place team. Had they performed as well as they did at the state meet, they would have finished closer to 18th place, right behind Corning and ahead of Arlington (both two pretty big name class A schools). Either way, it was a great experience at a beautiful course, and the entire team seemed like they had a great time.
As my high school coach did, it will probably be silent on here for a little while, or at least until the All-Greater Rochester selections are released. Every so often I will post some results from indoor track meets as Braydon, Jenna, Jeremiah, and Dylan are continuing on.
Thank you everyone for such a fantastic season, it was a dream come true for us as coaches and many of the athletes as well. We will miss Logan and Jeremiah quite a bit next year, as well as the Alfred-Almond crew during track. Fortunately, the kids will have the pleasure of racing AGAINST them in the months to come.

NYSPHSAA Championships @ Plattsburgh
The long two weeks of training after sectionals came to a close yesterday at the state championships. After the long trip back to Plattsburgh, the boys ran like well oiled machines out in the ice and snow. The race started with some slipping and falling - Dominick took a big spill just 400m into the race and had a lot of ground to make up. Luckily, he kept himself focused and steadily moved back up through the field. Jeremiah got out in the top 15, and by 1 mile was floating in the top 10. Pierce and Cameron were just inside of the top 50, Micah and Dom were in the top 60, and Dylan and Logan were in the top 80. When they passed by in the woods (close to 2 miles), Jeremiah had pulled into 6th place, closing in on Beaver River's 3rd runner, Pierce had moved up to about 31st, and Cameron was almost in the top 40. Micah and Dom had just cracked the top 50, while Dylan and Logan were in the low 70s. We did not see them again until about 800m to go, and Jeremiah was battling with a Duanesburg runner for 6th place. He ended up finishing out in 7th to earn a state medal, Pierce moved up to take 26th, Cameron had a massive race to finish 35th, Micah moved up to 42nd, Dom took 47th, Dylan finished 63rd and Logan closed it out with 66th.
As a team, the boys managed to take down Maple Grove for the first time this season, and were 5 points behind runner up Delhi to finish 3rd in their first ever state appearance. In the overall merge, the boys were 25th out of 41 teams. Pierce was the 1st freshman in the race while Dylan was the 5th freshman in the race. Cameron was the 7th underclassmen (freshman and sophomores combined). The boys ran simply fantastic, and we couldn't be happier with how they closed out the season. As far as the states looking towards next year, removing all seniors, Pierce is the 11th returner, Cameron 15th, Micah 20th, Dom 24th and Dylan 35th. Of course - a lot can happen between now and next year, but the potential of this team looks incredible.
In the girls race, Jenna went in ranked 38th. Around the first mile, she was floating around 45th. We saw her again in the woods near the 2 mile, this time she had moved into the top 40. When we saw her come out of the woods with 800m to go, she was sitting around 38th. In an awesome display of finishing speed, she managed to move up 7 spots to finish in 31st. We try not to put too much stock in the Tully "speed-rating" system, but it was statistically the best race Jenna has run at this point in her career.
Federations:
The surprise of the meet came on the ride home. We received a phone call from the section V coordinator congratulating us on the 3rd place team finish. He continued on by telling us that Jeremiah had been selected to compete at the federation championships this coming Saturday at Bowdoin State Park. This race combines the top 8 teams from the merged results of the state meet, 7 more teams that are selected by committee, and 40 individuals that are a mix of the state merge and voting. On top of that, private schools compete in this race and are selected as well. That being said, Jeremiah will have the chance to take on the top teams and individuals in the state - this time from all classes.
A week later, the team will head back to compete at the Nike Cross NY Regional championships on the same course. We are absolutely thrilled with how this season has gone, and are very thankful for the opportunity we have been given to work with this team. 2 races to go!

Section V Championships @ Midlakes
The team has been chattering since the beginning of the season about making the state championships, and last Saturday it all came together. The girls raced first, and Jenna got out like a rocket. She raced like a seasoned veteran and finished 3rd overall to punch her ticket to states. Mackenzie and NyVeah finished 40th and 41st which was better than Libby's efforts from last year. SyAnna, Mack and Alexis rounded out the top 7. The girls finished in 9th place thanks to a 6th runner tie-breaker by Mack. Last year, they finished 8th out of 11 teams, so 9th out of 14 was an improvement over last year. The team is still young, and adding Chloe back into the mix next year, there is a lot of hope for the future.
On the boys side, Jeremiah took the race out and was leading through 2 miles. As a team, the boys were trailing Notre-Dame Batavia with their 3rd runner ahead of our 2nd. Over the last mile, Pierce, Dominick, Micah, Cameron and Dylan moved up to all move ahead of NDB's 5th runner which sealed the deal and led to their first sectional title in program history. They ended up winning 74-89 points with Jeremiah in 3rd, Pierce 13th, Dominick 15th, Micah 23rd, Cameron 24th, Dylan 32nd and Logan 53rd. Jeremiah, Pierce and Dom all earned individual patches and all county honors. Jeremiah was the runner of the year, Pierce was first team and Dominick was 2nd team. Jenna ended up first team all county with Mackenzie and NyVeah sneaking their way onto the 2nd team.
For some perspective, the boys finished 13th out of 66 teams in the merged results of all classes. Just ahead of them were Pittsford Sutherland (3rd in class B), Penfield and Rush Henrietta. All of these teams are absolutely gigantic compared to Ark-Can, so it is quite the feat to be running at the same level.
The team rallied together in the final race of most of their seasons. Fortunately, we are sending 8 boys and 1 girl on to the NYSPHSAA championships up in Plattsburgh. The boys enter ranked 4th, within striking distance of the 2nd and 3rd ranked teams. Jenna enters ranked in the top 35, with potential to crack the top 30. The itinerary for states has been sent home, and the race will be on November 16th. The

Steuben County Championships
For the first time in 12 years, the boys are Steuben county champions. According to Mr. Lang, it is the 3rd time in program history that the boys have won the meet. It was as close as it could get, as the boys won by 1 point, 38 to 39, mostly in thanks to a huge race from Pierce. Jeremiah took the victory, and Pierce was a surprise 3rd to beat out all of Addison's team. It was truly an unbelievable performance on his part. Dominick, Cameron, Micah, and Dylan all finished within 14 seconds of each other, and there was only a 64 second spread between the first and 5th (Micah) runner. Cameron had the race of his career to date, as did Dylan. It was an excellent display of pack running, and will certainly put the team in a great position next weekend. Logan and Paul closed out in 7th and 8th for the team, both running in the top 20 of the race. While we know the course was not 3 miles - using the pace per mile we can extrapolate to determine what most runners would have finished a full 3 miles in. Braydon would have run almost 30 seconds faster than he had at McQuaid. Stu ran a massive personal best, as did Logan Garfield. Congratulations to all of the boys on a great win.
On the girls side, it was the first meet in almost a month that a complete team crossed the finish line. To our surprise, they finished 2nd overall ahead of JT and Avoca. Jenna continued her streak of strong races to take 3rd individually, and NyVeah managed to finish 10th, earning herself a plaque! Almost every other girl was coming back from an injury, but all managed to close the last mile hard to hold off a charging JT. Next week at sectionals, it will be a very interesting race to see if the girls place higher than they did last year.
On Thursday, Salim crossed the finish line in record time, 10:57, to break Andrew's record from last year. John and Devin finished the season out in personal bests as well, followed by a 7th place finish from Emma - her time was the 2nd fastest Arkport time on that course.
Both teams will be back in action, potentially for the last race of the season, at Midlakes next Saturday. The girls will begin the races at 1:30pm, followed by the boys at 2:30pm, and the award ceremony at 3pm.

First Annual Jeff Lang 2 Mile Extravaganza
Last night, both the boys and girls rose to the occasion to throw down at our first 2 mile time trial. On the boys side, Jeremiah would have dominated the school record in the 3200 with a 10:00. Micah and Dom both broke 11 minutes for the first time, Pierce shaved 20 seconds off of his outdoor track time, Logan W. and Dylan were within arms reach of their personal bests, Cam, Paul, Braydon, and Salim all ran personal bests. Evan ran his best 2 miles of the season, as well as Stu, Drew, Logan G., Johnny, and Devin. Justin was just off of his best pace of the season.
Meanwhile - Jenna ran 20 seconds faster than she ran last track season in the 3000m en route to her 3200. Tallulah and Emma both ran their first 2 mile "race" distance, and Alexis had a massive improvement. Her best mile pace for a meet so far has not been under 11:00, and she averaged 9:44 for the time trial.
For most of the team, they are beginning to "taper" - they will be running less volume (distance) than usual, running slightly faster in workouts, and preparing for their last meet of the season at counties. All of the girls (not including modified) will begin to taper next week in preparation for sectionals, while the top 10 boys will maintain their training through sectionals.

Duel @ Campbell, Alden, Duel @ Arkport
Again - school and life have been very busy, so I am catching up on some lost time!
Last Tuesday (10/8) was our second to last league meet at Campbell. Individually, Jeremiah and Jenna both won and set school records for the course. The boys team won 19-48 over Campbell and 15-50 over JT, while the girls were incomplete. The boys were led by Jeremiah, Micah, Pierce, Dom, Logan, Dylan and Cameron. Logan had a big race, running with the trio of Pierce, Dom and Micah for a majority of the race. All of the top 5 boys ran faster than Lou ran on this same course last year, while Paul, Dylan and Cameron were all just ahead of or behind Dennis' time from last year. On the girls side, Jenna, Mackenzie and NyVeah all ran the 3 best times in Arkport's history (as far as we can tell). On the modified side, Emma ran 40 seconds faster than Sophia ran on the same course last year to set the course record, while Salim missed Andrew's course record by just 3 seconds.
This weekend at Alden, the boys and girls both ran like champions. The modified runners took to the course first, with Salim finishing in the top 10, and Johnny and Devin both running personal bests. Emma and Tallulah battled hard and both split the fastest mile either of them has ever run through the first mile marker on the course. The JV boys were next, led by a huge effort from Paul, Dakota and Braydon. Titus and Evan rounded out the top 5, and the JV boys finished an excellent 13th out of 25 schools. The highlight of the race was Stu running a personal best, and earning his first varsity point! Justin and Drew managed to pull Hench and Ethan along to another great race as Ethan missed breaking the 30 minute barrier by 1.02 seconds. It was awesome to see all of those guys coming out of the woods as a pack and working together.
The varsity boys were the next race, led by Jeremiah in 5th, Dom, Pierce and Micah all in the top 40 (and all in personal best 5k times), rounded out by Logan Whit in 51st. To our surprise, the boys finished 5th in a strong field, 25 points behind the 2nd ranked team in Class D, Maple Grove, and tied with Addison. It ended up coming down to the 6th runner - whichever team's 6th runner finished first would win. Dylan sealed the deal, and for the first time in a long time put us in front of Addison in a head to head race. Dylan and Cameron placed 66th and 73rd, both in personal best 5k times (Dylan broke 19 for the first time!).
The girls raced finished out the day. Jenna finished 18th, just ahead of her cross town competitor from Addison. NyVeah finished under 24 minutes for the first time - skipping the 24:00-25:00 altogether. Mackenzie had a fantastic first 2 miles, and was actually on pace to run in the mid 22 minute range until she had some injury issues in the last mile. Mack and Alexis rounded out the top 5 to put our team just ahead of Bath in 13th place.
Lastly, today the team competed in the last league meet of the year. The boys won 17-39 over Addison to move their league record to 12-3 (I think?). Jeremiah smashed the course record to finish first, while Pierce and Dom both finished under the previous course record as well. Micah finished 5th, Logan took 6th, and Cameron took 10th. Titus had a huge race, finishing in 22:00. On the girls side, Jenna ran 54 seconds faster than last year to place 2nd. Alexis was the 2nd finisher for the girls team in 33:29.
On the modified side, Salim took it to the house in 12:14 (we believe the course is just short of 2 miles). Considering this was a longer course than last year, this is a new record! Johnny, Devin, Emma and Tallulah all finished strong to put a cap on their regular season. This weekend there are no races, however we will have a hard workout on Friday evening at the school. The next race will be the county meet, one week from Friday.

Duel @ Avoca, Leroy Invite
Sorry for the delay - I was waiting to post the results from the Avoca league meet, but they were never sent our way. We have the team results - the boys swept 15-50 against Avoca and JT, while the girls were represented by Jenna running a stellar race to finish 9th overall (behind our top 7, and Avoca's top boy). The record moves to 11-7 for the girls and 18-3 for the boys. On the modified side of things, Salim won the race, and Tallulah, John, Emma and Devin all finished in the top 10.
At the Leroy Invitational on Saturday, the modified girls took to racing first. Emma ran 13:34 to drop ... and put herself in 4th on the all time list, with Tallulah moving her way into 7th. Salim nearly took the victory in the boys race, as he was out-sprinted in the last 400m to finish 2nd in a new school record of 10:18. John moved his way into 5th on the all time list, while Devin moved his way into 7th.
In the girls race, Jenna continued her great season by placing 12th in the race. She was 55 seconds behind the reigning Section V class D champ, Alexa Wolcott, and has been closing the gap every weekend. Jenna broke the school record on the course by over 90 seconds, and ran a new personal best in the 5k. Mackenzie was the next wolf to cross the finish line in a new personal best 5k, over 2 minutes faster than last year, and moving up to 5th all time. NyVeah ran a personal best in the 5k as well, moving to 9th on the all time list. MacKenzzie rounded out our girls squad as the 4th runner.
On the boys side, Jeremiah and Logan sat out to take the SAT, so there was a void to be filled by the rest of the boys. Micah, Dominick and Pierce delivered a strong 1, 2, 3 punch and all ran personal bests, as well as running 10 seconds faster than Dennis' course record. They are now the first 3 all time for the course. Paul delivered a huge performance, finishing over 40 seconds faster than he ran at McQuaid to break 19 minutes, notch the 7th fastest Ark-Can time on the course, and end up as the 4th runner. Cameron, coming back from injury, finished as the 5th runner for the day, and ran over a minute faster than he ran at the course last year. The top 7 were rounded out by Dylan and Dakota, followed closely by Braydon. Evan ran a personal best in the 5k, as well as Hench (1:45 faster than last year) and Ethan (1:12 faster than last year). The boys are now officially the 4th ranked team in the state, and individually Jeremiah is top 10, Pierce, Dom and Micah are top 50, and Jenna may have cracked the top 35 after this weekend. The teams are back in action on Tuesday at Campbell.

They are now the first 3 all time for the course. McQuaid Invitational
Another McQuaid Invitational has come and gone, and this year brought as much success as Ark-Can has seen in recent memory. The day started off with personal bests from all 5 modified runners (Salim, John, Devin, Emma, and Tallulah), including a new school record for the junior high course by Salim in 10:21 (6:24 pace).
The varsity girls ran next, and to our surprise had a more successful race as a team than last years bunch. Jenna placed 11th individually, the 2nd highest for a girl in school history, with the 4th fastest time in school history (all records can be found on the records page). Mackenzie earned herself a ribbon, and ran 2 minutes faster than last year, while NyVeah and SyAnna both ran faster than our 3rd girl last year. Still struggling with injury and sickness, there was a gap back to Mack, who ended up with a personal best as well, followed by a personal best from Yasmin. The girls beat Geneseo to finish 14th out of 20 in the race, within arms reach of 2 other section V teams. It was a nice glimpse into the future, especially considering we have not shown all of our cards at this point.
The boys had a historic performance with Jeremiah finishing in record time (16:14) to take 3rd individually. Dominick showed that running over the summer does pay dividends by finishing 14th individually and running the 6th fastest time in school history (16:54) to earn himself a T-shirt and medal. Pierce was the top freshman in the race in a staggering 17:31 to finish 35th and earn himself a medal (for context, I ran 17:14 as a senior and Mr. Chi ran 16:46). Micah and Logan W. rounded out the top 5 with very strong races, each earning themselves a ribbon (top 75). Cameron and Dakota rounded out the top 7 finishing right next to our 5th fastest runner's time last year. As a team, the boys finished 2nd out of 45 teams!!! They beat the 4th ranked team in NYS Class D by 185 points, and finished 2nd to the 2nd ranked team - Maple Grove.
The JV boys closed out the day with Dylan showing he wants to mix it up with the big dogs by finishing 22nd in a field of 331 runners (in the 6th fastest Ark-Can time of the day). He was followed closely by Braydon (44th), Paul (48th) and Andrew (54th). All of the boys ran faster than our 7th fastest runner last year (for those counting, that's 11 runners in front of last year's 7th!). Titus and Evan had big days, running in the low 22 minute range and securing an 11th place team finish out of 27 complete teams. Justin got out hard, and ended up bringing it in under 25 minutes to hit 24:34. What a weekend, coming home with 3 T-shirts, 7 medals, 1 individual plaque, 1 team plaque and 4 ribbons - we are going to need a bigger trophy case.

Duel @ Arkport and McQuaid Invite
Sorry for the brief hiatus. On Tuesday the team faced off against Hammondsport, Gen Valley, Hornell, Avoca and Whitesville. The girls beat out all but Hornell, moving them to a 11-5 record. Unfortunately, we made a mistake in the timing, and missed a bunch of the times. I'm posting the completed results below that we sent out to the other coaches. Jenna took an easy victory in a time of 22:02, followed by Mackenzie, NyVeah, Yasmin and Alexis. The boys improved their record to 16-3 while losing by 3 points to Hammondsport. We ran without a lot of key runners that are nursing injuries/sickness and trying to recuperate to run at full strength this Saturday. The boys were led by another individual win by Jeremiah (I'm already starting to lose count of the number of races he has won!), Dominick, Micah, Logan, Andrew, Paul, and Braydon.
Tomorrow the races begin at 9am. The schedule is below:
9:00am: Modified Girls
9:12am: Varsity Girls
9:36am: Modified Boys
9:48am: Varsity Boys
10:53am: JV Boys
The races on both sides are LOADED with both section V and NYS competition. On the girls side, they will have Avon, Geneseo, Honeoye, JT, Oakfield, Pavilion, Red Creek, Red Jacket, and a handful of very competitive PA schools. On the boys side, it will be a great test against NYS Class D 3rd ranked Maple Grove, 4th ranked Oakfield, 6th ranked Hammondsport, 9th ranked Batavia Notre-Dame and a few PA teams that have finished in the top 3 in the race over the last 5 years. We hope to see you all there!

Pre-State Invite
On Saturday the boys and girls made the long trek to Plattsburgh to check out the state championship course. The meet started out with Dakota in the JV race, finishing with a new personal best of 20:09 and finishing 19th out of 167 runners. The girls were up next, and they showed a lot of promise for later in the season. They ended up 1 place and 30 points behind Geneseo - last years 4th place sectional team. Chloe was not on her A game, and her running closer to Mackenzie and Tressa would have definitely secured a victory over them. Jenna led the squad with a 40th place finish, and what looks to be a personal best 5k. The official results are calling the course 3.03 miles, but everyone running with a GPS had it at over 3.1 miles - I'm sticking with 3.1 miles. Jenna was 10 seconds behind the 4th runner from the top class D school in the state - Tully. Tressa had a huge race to finish 2nd on the team, followed by Mackenzie, NyVeah, SyAnna, Yasmin and Chloe. The girls were 39th out of 42 total teams.
The boys race got out like a cannonball. Most of our boys stormed through the mile within seconds of their fastest mile times. Jeremiah turned some heads by finishing 7th in the race, and 18th out of 369 runners, in a school record time of 16:35. He was the 4th class D runner in the meet, only behind the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ranked runners in the state. Pierce, Dominick, and Micah came in seconds apart to all run personal bests, and put the team in great position. Logan and Cameron finished 5th and 6th for the teams, with a 35 second personal best for Logan, followed by a personal best from Dylan in 7th. The boys placed 18th out of 49 complete teams, and in the merged race results beat the 8th ranked class D team, Lake Placid, by 345 points. We have a sneaking suspicion that the boys ranking of 10th in class D and 4th in section V may just improve this week.
The week to come will be the biggest test yet. On Wednesday night we host the Hammondsport boys, coming off of a fantastic pre-sectional meet at Midlakes to finish 2nd by 1 point to Oakfield. The boys will look to move to 16-2, while the girls will look to up-end Hornell to move to 11-4. On Saturday, they race some of the states top class D teams in the state on both sides. The boys may be in contention to finish in the top 3, which would earn them a plaque. The top 20 individuals will receive a T-shirt, 21-50 will receive a medal, and 51-75 receive ribbons.

League Meet 3 & Knox Invite
On Saturday the team headed down to East Aurora to race at the Knox Invite. The JV races kicked off the day with a 4000m short course. On the boys side, Paul led the charge and placed 32nd out of 179 runners, followed by strong racing from Evan and Titus, Stu, Justin, Drew, Hench and Ethan. On the girls side, Mack ran a huge race (8:15 pace) to lead the JV girls, followed by Alexis and Brennah.
The varsity boys finished 8th out of 27 teams - 6 of the teams in front of them were class C schools, 1 class B school and Maple Grove (the 2nd ranked class D team in the state). Jeremiah led the charge with a 7th place finish, followed by Dom (41st), Micah (49th), Pierce (61st), Cameron (67th), Logan W. (101st) and Dylan (111th) out of 231 runners. Dakota, Braydon and Andrew all ran personal bests as well.
The girls team placed 22nd out of 26, which was to be expected with most of the girls battling both sickness and injury. Jenna finished 32nd in a new personal best, followed by Mackenzie (111th), Tressa (143rd), SyAnna (162nd) and NyVeah (167th). We look forward to Yasmin and Chloe returning to racing in the near future.
Today's race in Hornell was hotly contested. The modified team started with a win by Salim, and personal bests from John, Emma, Devin and Tallulah. Salim ran a few seconds off of Andrew's record from last year. Emma and Tallulah both ran faster than NyVeah ran last year, which is a big step in the right direction. The varsity boys followed, and they put up quite the fight.
Jeremiah led the charge with another win, followed by Dominick, Micah, Pierce, Cameron, Logan and Dakota. Our top 8 boys made their way on to the all time list for Hornell (check the records section). The boys lost 27-28 to Addison (As close of a margin as possible in XC), but managed to beat out Hornell, Hammondsport, Avoca, Campbell, Genesee Valley, JT, Whitesville, and Cuba-Rushford. Their record moves to 12-2.
On the girls side, Chloe and Yasmin were added back into the mix, but SyAnna, Brennah and Mackenzie sat out due to sickness/injury. While running at about 75% capacity, the girls managed to improve their overall record to 7-4, beating Avoca, Cuba-Rushford, Campbell Savonna, and losing to Addison, Hornell and JT. The girls were led by a 2nd place finish from Jenna in an Arkport record time (the first time she has beaten Addison's 2nd and 3rd runner), followed by NyVeah, Tressa, Chloe, Yasmin, Mack and Alexis. NyVeah, Tressa, and Yasmin all made their way on to the top 10 list for the course.
This weekend the team travels to Plattsburgh to race at the pre-state meet. Everyone that is staying home will have an optional captain's practice (If Evan decides to have one) this weekend. Otherwise, rest up for next week when we head to the McQuaid Invite.

League Meet 1 & 2
We have results from meets 1 and 2! The results are below, and all season results are over in the results page. Last week, the team ended up taking a loss to Addison on both sides, and even though it wasn't counted in the "league standings" they both swept Avoca and Campbell. Both teams records were 0-1 in the league, and 2-1 overall.
Last night at Hammondsport, the boys were giving marching orders to run with Hammondsport's 3rd runner. They executed perfectly, as Dom, Jeremiah, Micah and Pierce took 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th behind the Kressly brothers. Hammondsport took 7th and 8th, and Cameron had a strong last mile to swing the meet in our favor, a 27-28 win over Hammondsport. They took down Campbell as well, moving the team standing to 2-1. On the girls side, they needed 5 girls to finish the race to pick up two more wins, and they did just that. Even though the girls were asked to run at 90%, they ended up 1st, 3rd, 7th and 8th on the all time list for Arkport athletes at that course between Jenna, Mackenzie F., Tressa and NyVeah. On the boys side, the top 4 were the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th fastest Arkport times on that course, while Cam, Logan Whit and Andrew notched the 7th, 9th and 10th fastest times.
Both teams moved to 2-1 in league standings, and 4-1 overall in league meets. Alexis managed to finish in the top 5 on the girls side for her XC career.
On the modified side, Salim won in an Ark-Can XC record. John, Emma, Tallulah and Devin also made their marks as they all made it on to the top 10 lists for modified.
This weekend the team will be racing out in East Aurora. There is a varsity and JV race. On the boys side, the varsity runners will be (11:30 AM):
Jeremiah, Dominick, Pierce, Micah, Cameron, Logan, Dakota, Dylan, Braydon and Andrew.
For the girls (12:30 PM):
Jenna, Chloe, Mackenzie, NyVeah, Tressa, SyAnna and Yasmin.
JV boys (10:30 AM): Paul, Evan, Titus, Stu, Justin, Drew, Ethan, Logan and Hench.
JV girls (10:00 AM): Brennah, Mack, and Alexis.
Listed above, the JV girls race first at 10:00 AM, JV boys at 10:30 AM, Varsity boys at 11:30 AM, and Varsity girls at 12:30 PM.
AU Invite
We are still without results from Thursday, as well as today's invite, but we do have some numbers that we recorded. Our rough estimation from Thursday was that we swept Campbell and Avoca on both sides, but lost 24-31 on the boys side to Addison, with a loss on the girls side to Addison as well.
Today's invite saw a new top 7 on the boys side, as Jeremiah, Micah, Dominick, Pierce, Logan W., and Cannonball sat out of the race. Paving the way was Cameron with what looked to be a top 10 finish, followed by Dakota, Andrew, Braydon, Paul, Evan and Titus. The results from our team are below. There was a mishap on the course leading to a wrong turn by Justin, Drew, Stu, Ethan and Logan, so we are not sure if their distance was long or short. It was a strong effort by everyone!
On the girls side, Tressa made her season debut and showed up with a time that would have put her 4th in the girls line up on Thursday! Brennah, battling injury, stuck it out for a new personal best, and Alexis came through matching her season best from last year. Great work everyone! We will post more results as they come to us.

Hornell Scrimmage
Race number one is in the books! The teams competed at Hornell today and had a very solid first showing. While the meet was not scored as each school against the other, I checked it out just to see where things would have shaken out. The Dansville girls took it handily in 43 points, JT 2nd in 70 points and immediately behind them, Ark-Can with 71 points! To our surprise, the girls times would have beaten our girls last year in a league meet, 22-33 points. Solid performances, and some big improvements on the girls side.
On the boys side, they won over Hammondsport, 28-44, but they would have tied last years team, 28-28 in league meet scoring, winning with the 6th runner (Dylan) this year. While the team has improved, there is still a great amount of work to be done.
