State Preview
As promised, here are the projections for the state meet this weekend. In the girls race, section 2 comes in as the favorite for the intersectional team scoring with section 5 slightly back (about 35 points). Jenna ranks 19th with some serious upside for improving. A top 20 finish would earn her a coveted state medal! She was the 5th girl at sectionals, and is looking to move up to help the section 5 team earn some hardware. She is about 25 seconds out from a top 10 finish.
Random aside: Looking back, when the girls team won sectionals in 2014, they were 3rd overall in the D/DD merge, so our girls had the highest overall finish in team history on Saturday. Congratulations!
On the boys side, the team goes in ranked 2nd - 18 points behind Tri-Valley - and they have Port Jeff and Delhi nipping at their heels (11 and 21 points behind us). They will have to be on their A game to place 2nd again, and we will have to have some major break through so to have a shot at winning the team title. Tri-Valley looked vulnerable at the end of last season, but had the best race of their season to take the state title. Individually, Pierce and Braydon enter as 14th and 16th and look to earn state medals. Salim and Pierce (20th and 3rd) both took home hardware last year, and Salim enters ranked 29th while Ibra ranks 44th. Taking out runners that did not qualify for the state meet, they should be ranked much higher.
As for the intersectional team, section V is slated to dominate on paper. They have the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st, 29th, 44th and 66th ranked athletes. I based this on sectional qualifiers and overall season speed ratings. They may not be 100% accurate, but it is pretty close as their team total is 211 and the next highest is over 315 points. If everyone has an average day, they should secure the intersectional title and go home with some hardware.

Sectionals
Championship season began yesterday with an electric sectional meet. The girls took to the course first and ran without their usual 5th runner (Hope). At the 1 mile mark, the girls were only 9 points behind Addison. The Addison teams have a tendency to finish very strong in the last half of the race as they pulled away to a 51 point team victory. The girls battled unbelievably well to finish 2nd which equals their best team performance at a sectional meet. The girls have won a sectional title in the past, but they did not make the state meet, meaning they have never been higher than 2nd. Jenna led the way to finish 5th and make her second trip to the state meet! Lizzie and NV finished back to back in 16th and 17th and Liv placed 25th, which is the highest I have ever seen an AC girl finish that isn’t named Jenna Franklin. Chloe stepped up to the challenge to place 60th, while Paige and Yasmin brought it in with strong races to take 72nd and 81st. Adding Hope in to the mix, even if she won the meet individually the girls would have taken 2nd by 5 points. In the merged results, the girls placed 11th overall, 15 points behind Penfield. It is unreal to think the girls placed 4th last year and 23rd in the merge. Looking back to 2019, the girls were 42nd in the merge and 9th in class D. Looking ahead, we will return 5 of our top 7 runners and add in some depth from the 8th grade crew. The girls blew expectations out of the water all season! Congratulations!
On the boys side, we knew going in that we were seeded to lose by about 15 points. We were hopeful that it would shake out in our favor, but there were so many unknown variables. The boys raced their hearts out and captured their 4th consecutive section V title to beat out Oakfield by 6 points. Looking at the speed ratings from Tully, Oakfield had an incredible day. Connor, Logan, Eli, Chad and Mason all ran their top speed ratings EVER, with Colton just off of his best. We were leading by 18 points at the mile, but began to fade over the final mile. Pierce ended up taking 4th, Braydon 6th, Salim 8th and Ibra 9th. Jacob had another monster race after running a 23 second PR in the opening mile to hang on for 28th and seal the deal. Alex and Dylan matched their season bests to place 87th and 94th. Looking back at previous merge results, when we won our first title in 2019 the boys placed 13th out of 65 teams. They did not merge the 2020 results because sectionals took place on multiple courses, but in 2021 we were 8th of 55 teams. This year, the boys ended up 6th out of 61 teams and were just 28 points out of beating out the legendary Pittsford Mendon team.
Looking forward to the state meet, Tri-Valley goes in as the odds on favorite. They have unreal season best speed ratings (top 5 listed below):
Adam - 191
Van - 170
Craig - 158
Vincent - 145
Thomas - 145
Dayne - 126
AC:
Pierce - 165
Bibo - 161
Salim - 153
Ibra - 147
Jacob - 131
Alex - 91
Dylan - 90
Our boys may very well go in ranked 2nd-4th behind:
Frewsburg:
Juvenal - 149
Cody - 149
Micah - 148
Xander - 144
Daniel - 114
Noah - 113
Jacob - 110
Delhi:
Vincent - 169
Alton - 169
Nelson - 144
Jared - 135
Latham - 121
Zavier - 116
Alexander - 113
Port Jefferson:
Brendan - 159
Colin - 153
Andrew - 148
Carman - 143
Blake - 140
Ryan - 140
Based on those rankings, and not including the other teams that qualified, our boys should be able to handle Frewsburg, but Delhi and Port Jefferson will pose a challenge.
In the intersectional team scoring, the section V boys may be able to run away with it. As of today they rank 2, 3, 4, 11, 13, 14, 21, 22, 31 and 101. The point total is 222 which would have won last year, but you can take out almost 40 runners that did not qualify. I will go through and do a more in depth analysis later, as well as update our course records. Great work everyone!

League Meet #6/Counties
The regular season ended almost 2 weeks ago with the boys finishing a perfect 17-0 and the girls finishing 15-2. The boys league meet streak now extends to 41-0 in the last 22 league meets. Both teams have faced a variety of injuries this season, but counties saw the return of the boys team in full force as Pierce, Salim, Ibra and Bibo went 1-4 and Jacob had an astonishing return to action to place 6th with a MONSTER personal best. Alex and Dylan rounded out our top 7, and have locked in a lineup of 5 seniors, 1 junior and 1 freshman for our sectional roster. The boys won the county meet with 16 points, 1 point off of their perfect score from last season. Luckily there is some talent coming from the modified ranks as the boys team won the Future Stars invite over the likes of Rush Henrietta and Fairport.
On the girls side, they ran without Hope and fought hard against a strong Addison girls team. Jenna finished 2nd while Lizzie, NV and Liv placed 8th, 10th and 11th. Chloe, Paige and Mo rounded out our top 7 finishers and will look to bounce back this week at sectionals. Yasmin, Emma, Nema, Graysen and Lily had an excellent end to their seasons, placing much higher than their projected positions. The mod girls ran strong at the Future Stars meet, led by Grace with her 5th place finish.
Both teams will have their work cut out for them at sectionals as they come in as underdogs behind Oakfield-Alabama for the boys and Addison for the girls. A full sectional preview will come later this week, but for now it looks like it will be an absolute dog fight!

League Meet #5
The boys and girls faced off against Hammondsport, Cuba and Hornell at Hammondsport, and both teams went 3-0. That moves the girls to 13-1 and the boys to 14-0. A few key athletes sat this meet with aches and pains, but the team ran well regardless. Jenna paved the way with a fast time on a league meet course (although, I think it was about 2.9 miles). NyVeah, Chloe, Paige, Mo, Emma, and Nema took 5th-10th will Lily rounding out the squad with a sub 30 minute finish. The boys went 1-4 with Bibo, Salim, Ibra and Jacob throwing down a FAST last mile to break things open. Jacob looked strong while beating the 9th and 12th place finishers from counties, firmly putting him in all county contention. Johnny, Dylan, Rayhan and Pat all did a nice job and will look to fight for top 7 positions this weekend at Alden. Cam K, Drew, Matt, Josh and Stu rounded out the AC finishers and put up some solid performances for a Tuesday league meet.
On the mod boys side, Dr. Squatch looked like he got shot out of a cannon off the starting line. He laid down a very quick opening mile before missing a turn and losing some momentum. Adam eventually overtook him, and Tucker and Ronan ended up finishing 20 seconds back in 3rd and 4th. Noah had a big bounce back race and took 6th overall. James, Alex and Zak all ran very well for what looked to be a 1.3 mile course... it was hard to say for sure on the distance.
Grace, Carly, Zoe and Lexi were the finishers for the mod girls, with Grace, Carly and Zoe placing 1-3rd. The mod teams will look to push the envelope against East Aurora, Batavia and a few other B/C schools this weekend at Alden. Against East Aurora at their invite, the boys were a mere 8 points off the win. Can they seal the deal? We will see!

League Meet #4
Both teams found success at Hornell last Tuesday. The boys and girls both won over JT/CG, CR and GV to move their records to 11-0 for the boys and 10-1 for the girls. The boys were led by a 1-2-3 sweep from Bibo, Salim and Ibra, followed by strong runs from Dylan, Jacob, Alex, Rayhan, John, Pat, Drew, Cam, Matt and Stu. The girls were led by an individual win from Jenna, 5th and 6th from Lizzie and Alivia, 11th and 12th from Hope and NV, 17th and 18th from Chloe and Paige. This was the entire county meet, so we would have seen all county finishes from Jenna, Lizzie, Liv and Hope. It is incredible to see the girls continue to progress! Mo and Yasmin nearly broke 27:00, while Nema approached 28:00 and Lily nearly broke 31:18.
On the modified side, Adam, Micah, Ronan and Tucker placed 3rd-6th. Slite finished 8th, while Noah, James, Alex, Mario and Zak placed 13th, 14th, 15th, 18th, and 21st. On the girls side Grace and Zoey took 1st and 2nd, followed up by Carly and Lexi in 5th and 8th. We are excited to see them all take on some bigger teams at Alden this weekend!

McQuaid Invitational
The teams headed out to Genesee Valley Park to take on the best in NYS on Saturday. The day got off to a hot start with the girls mod race. Grace and Zoe ran the 2nd and 9th fastest times in school history while towing the team to an 8th place finish. Zoe dropped over a minute off of her time from last year, as did Ellasyn. Carly dropped 20 seconds from last year and Lexi ran very well to nearly crack the top 100.
The modified boys were next, with Adam, Micah, Tucker and Ronan running the first through fourth fastest times in school history. They ran a controlled race and wound up placing 2nd as a team, but 1st out of NYS teams. They were our only team to walk out of the meet with hardware! Adam, Micah, Tucker, Ronan, Noah and James all ran faster than our top boy last year (Tucker in 100th place at 11:17). It was awesome to see such huge improvements and promise for the years to come. Alex placed ahead of our 2nd runner from last year and Mario would have broken into our top 4.
The boys ran in the JV race next, highlighted by a big breakthrough from Jacob finishing 6th in 18:49, Johnny dropped over a minute from last season breaking 20:00, Alex finished in 20:00 for a huge PR, and Dylan finished in a big season best with 20:10. Rayhan had a HUGE drop to run 21:08, as did Drew to drop from 23:08 last weekend to 22:17 today. Cameron and Matt chopped off 8 and 15 seconds, and Stu finished strong to crack 24 minutes. Josh dropped 30 seconds to break 25 minutes! They placed 7th out of 20 teams.
The girls race was thrilling with Jenna leading the charge in 10th overall to PR by over a minute running 19:30. Lizzie battled hard to drop 40 seconds and place 22nd. NV and Liv ran tough to crack the top 50 and flirt with sub 21 minutes. Hope, Chloe and Paige rounded out the top 7 and all three ran personal bests. Jenna, Lizzie, NV and Liv rank 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th all time for Arkport at McQuaid. Emma had a 2 minute drop to crack 25 minutes for the first time, and Graysen finished just over 27 minutes to drop another 30 seconds off of East Aurora. The girls team placed 4th overall, just 7 points behind Addison. With 1 month left in the season, their work is cut out for them. Addison is the team to beat at sectionals, can we respond? Removing any teams that weren't section V class D, we would have finished 3 points behind Addison. A lot can happen in this final month, but the girls are progressing in the right direction!
Our final races of the day saw Ibra place 5th in the sophomore race (top freshman) in 16:55, and Bibo and Salim running top 10 times in AC history with 16:13 and 16:52. Dropping our times from these races into the varsity races, the boys would have contended for top 10, but still has ground to make up on Oakfield. Projecting Pierce in the results, it looks like the boys would have finished 7 points behind Oakfield. Early in the season we were not close to them, so Jacob, John, Alex and Dylan making big steps forward could be the boost the boys need to compete for a sectional title.
On the opposite side, we saw Connor run an excellent race, as well as the Bloomfield boys. They will be tough at sectionals, as will Lincoln from Byron Bergen and Logan from Oakfield. On the girls side, Kylie Paylor and Faith had massive personal bests, both defeating Tea from HAC. If sectionals were yesterday, we would be looking at Jenna making it individually, and Lizzie finishing in the first spot out behind Emmy from Hammondsport. On the boys side, Bibo and Salim would individually qualify with Ibra finishing in the first spot out. We are definitely the underdogs for boys and girls, but very much in the hunt. The team has 2 league meets ahead before our next invite at Alden on 10/15.

Wednesday, September 28th
The teams hosted Addison, Campbell, Cuba Rushford and Avoca at home on Tuesday and came out on top. We are putting an asterisk on the Addison-AC girls score as we are going to focus on McQuaid since we have some sickness running through the team. Besides that, the boys went 3-0 to put their season record to 8-0, and their win streak to 32-0 in 19 races (since 9/27/2019). The girls won over Avoca and Campbell, pushing their record unofficially to 7-0.
The boys executed their race tactic well, and got in some good efforts. Braydon actually ran a PR for the course in his workout effort, and Jacob, Dylan, Alex and John bounced back from a big race Saturday with a solid effort today. Jenna managed to beat her own course record... in a workout nonetheless. Lizzie ran the #3 AC time on the course, Liv and Paige cracked the top 10 list as well. Graysen and Nema both notched 5k PRs.
On the mod side, Adam and Micah pushed early to try to break Julius from Campbell. Julius had a nice finishing kick to secure the win, but it pulled our guys to the 1, 2, 4 and 5 times on the course. We may have to hold a time trial later in the season to see if anyone can knock down Ibra or Salim's 2 mile records. Grace ran very well and blasted the course record, previously held by Jenna. I put an asterisk next to any older times as they were conversions from different distances. Not exactly precise, but it is the best we can get without having 4 separate course records for every mod distance we have run over the last 6 seasons. Zoe, Carly and Ellasyn notched 5, 6 and 7th in course history and Lexi just missed out on the top 10 list. Great job everyone!

East Aurora Invitational
The entire team trekked out to East Aurora to take on Oakfield and Addison to see where our fitness is. The boys raced first and placed 5th overall. Braydon, Ibra and Salim led the way with a 3, 11, 12 finish. Jacob and Johnny had great races, both finishing over a minute faster than last year. Every single boy and girl ran personal bests for a 3 mile race, which saw Dylan, Alex, Patrick and Rayhan between 20:45 and 21:45. Drew chopped almost 2 minutes off of his best time, Stu skipped the 23 minute range and ran 22:50, Cameron had a strong last mile to tow Matt along to big PRs, and Josh made his varsity debut running much faster than his average modified races last year. Oakfield showed why they are the team to beat at sectionals as they packed in 5 guys between 15:44 and 17:51. With Pierce waiting in the wings and a few modified kids ready to move up to varsity, the next 6 weeks will be very exciting!
The girls raced second and made a HUGE statement. They finished 3rd overall, 1 point behind Addison. Addison is the defending section 5 champ, and finished 2nd at the state meet last year. They added Kerrigan into the mix which made an immediate impact, but our girls ran very well. Jenna dropped a minute off of her best 3 mile to place 4th, as did Lizzie to finish 13th. NV dropped a minute, and Liv and Hope had a huge break through - going from PR's of 25:10 at Canisteo to 21:40 and 21:54. Chloe and Paige notched big races to run 23:35 and 23:37. Yasmin bounced back from some injury to beat her time from last season by 2 minutes. Mo jumped from 28:30s to 25:57, and Nema dropped 8 minutes from her time last year!!! Emma and Graysen had huge personal bests, and Lily just missed cracking 30 minutes. The takeaways are that the girls are going to be a force to reckon with, and they are starting to gain confidence and build momentum.
The modified races were also spectacular as the boys placed 2nd to East Aurora by 8 points, with strong finishes from Adam (3rd), Micah (6th), Tucker (12th), Rody (22nd), Noah (43rd), James (46th), Mario (87th) and Zak (92nd). Adam, Micah, Tucker and Rody all ran faster than our top mod last season, while Noah and James finished in front of our 2nd mod from last season. They looked poised and controlled as they head into a big race at McQuaid next weekend.
Grace showed she is ready to fly this season by taking the race out in first for the first 600m! She faded to 12th but ran 2.5 minutes faster than the ACAA course record! Zoe dropped 1.5 minutes, Ellasyn dropped a minute and Carly dropped 30 seconds from last season. We can't wait to see what the season holds for these rockstars!

League Meet #2 @ Canisteo
League meet #2 is in the books against Cuba, GV and Canisteo/JT. The boys and girls both swept the scores winning 15-50. The girls race was led by a strong effort from Jenna, Lizzie, Liv, Hope, NV, Chloe and Paige. The course was measured at 3 miles even, which would be a PR for Liv, Hope and Paige. Yasmin had a nice bounce back race, followed by strong runs from Graysen and Lily. Emma was battling through some sickness but finished well.
On the boys side, we were without Pierce, Dylan, Josh and Rayhan. Salim, Ibra and Bibo dominated with a 1-2-3 finish, followed by a nice run from Jacob, Johnny, Alex and Patrick. Drew, Cam, Stu and Matt ran tough to walk away with a better understanding of what it means to tackle a hilly course.
The boys and girls are both 5-0 for the season with the boys pushing their win streak to 29-0 in the last 19 races, while the girls move to a strong 25-8 since 2019. Both teams look to test their fitness against Oakfield, Addison and the rest of the small school teams at East Aurora this weekend.
The modified race was led by an 8 second compression between Adam, Micah, Tucker and Rody. Slite, Noah, James, Alex and Mario all finished within 37 seconds of each other which gets us excited for the invite on Saturday. Zak rounded out the mod crew on would looked to be about a 1 mile course. For the girls, Grace took the crown by almost 20 seconds, followed by Zoe in 3rd, Carly in 5th, Ellasyn in 6th and Lexi in 7th. Great job by all! The full meet results are below.

League Meet #1 @ Cuba Rushford
The boys and girls varsity teams opened their seasons well with wins over both Hornell and Hammondsport (we didn't score against CR today) so they begin at 2-0. I went back in our records because I wanted to try to keep this straight. Before the beginning of this season the boys were 33-3 in league meets since Chi and I took over, we have a streak going of 26-0 in the the last 18 races. For total wins, we are at 39 from 2019-2021. For the girls we are at 22-8 with lots of room to improve looking at this seasons roster.
The girls were led by Jenna, NV, Liv, Hope, Paige, Chloe and Yasmin. Time wise, Liv, Hope and Paige all ran personal bests and helped improve our 1-5 compression. Mo finished her first race well, and Emma had a strong race after missing Saturday. Nema, Graysen and Lily all posted personal bests. The boys were led by Braydon, Ibra, Salim, Pierce, Jacob, Dylan and Rayhan. The boys had a nice workout effort up front, and a few personal bests were posted by Drew and Cam K.
The mod squad got off to a great start, led by Adam, Micah, Tucker, Rody, and Slite. Alex, Noah, James, Zach and Mario rounded out the squad and looked VERY strong! They were 4:46 apart from 1-10 on the 1.5 mile course, and 1:28 from 1-5. The girls were led by Grace in 1st, Zoe in 3rd, then Carly, Ellasyn, Lexi and Kyla. Lexi was a nice surprised as she finished 2 seconds back from Ellasyn and Carly. We can't wait to see them all back in action next week!

VVS Pre-State Invitational
Saturday the teams threw down at the VVS pre-state meet. Both teams placed second in their respective races. The link to full results can be found here: results.leonetiming.com/xc.html?mid=5180. The girls were edged by 1 point by Maple Grove - a perennial state powerhouse. Jenna and Lizzie placed 2nd and 5th, NV took 14th, Liv 21st, Chloe 28th, Paige 37th and Hope 46th. It was a hot day, but they battled to be competitive. Graysen and Nema worked well together to finish within 1 second of each other. Lily posted her first 5k on varsity and finished under 39 minutes. In the merged results, the girls placed 28th - ahead of Delhi (7th in D) and Maple Grove (9th in D), finishing second only to Beaver River.
The boys took 2nd to a strong Fairport team with a solid first outing on a challenging day. I think some other teams in the state will be excited to see we didn't begin this season with a bang, but the goal isn't to race fast in September or October. Piece, Bibo, Salim and Ibra led the way in 4th, 7th, 18th, and 22nd. Jacob, John and newcomer Alex rounded out the top 7 and will look to bridge the gap up to the top 4. Rayhan made a huge leap forward after a great summer of training, newcomers Jesse and Matt had a nice first outing with Drew finishing his first varsity 5k. Pat and Stu opened the season looking poised and ready to crush the rest of the year. In the merged results, the boys were 19th. Tri Valley and Delhi were the only Class D schools ahead of them, and they should be ranked 4th or so in NYS after this weekend.

VVS Pre-State Invitational
Saturday marks the first race of the 2022 XC campaign for our varsity runners, and they should have some great competition on what looks to be a very fair states course. The kids are in race 5 which is at 1:50pm for girls and 3:10pm for boys. The race features East Aurora (1st in C), Maple Grove (10th in D), and Fairport (3rd in A) for the boys while the girls race has Fairport (12th in A), Maple Grove (9th in D), East Aurora (1st in C), and Broadalbin-Perth (12th in C). Both races are weaker on the team side, but with many new runners this season on our team and others it could be a whole new ball game.
Individually, the returning speed ratings for individuals are below.
Boys:
1. 175 - Pierce Young - AC
2. 167 - Jake Passalugo - Fairport
3. 159 - Zach Ditzel - Fairport
4. 156 - Owen Rung - East Aurora
5. 155 - Connor Roeser - Fairport
6. 153 - Mike Taranto - Fairport
7. 151 - Colin Lesher - Fairport
8. 151 - Jacob Tonovitz - Fairport
9. 151 - Owen Willard - Fairport
10. 150 - Ryan Defries - East Aurora
11. 150 - Salim Ford - AC
12. 149 - Ibra Ford - AC
13. 148 - Brogan Fielding - Carthage
14. 146 - Connor Couperus - Broadalbin-Perth
15. 145 - Braydon Brewster - AC
16. 145 - Ben Cornell - Maple Grove
17. 143 - Joseph Chudy - East Aurora
18. 142 - Joe Britschge - Fabius Pompey
19. 140 - Mason Wiedeman - East Aurora
The individual awards go to the top 20 finishers and top 3 teams, and the boys look to be in the conversation behind a deep Fairport and slightly stronger East Aurora. Scoring just 4 runners, Fairport leads with 16 points, then AC with 39, then East Aurora with 50. The depth of East Aurora, and the emergence of a 5th man on either side could lead to a great first race.
On the girls side...
1. 141 - Emilia O'Leary - East Aurora
2. 114 - Kaitlyn Houghton - East Aurora
3. 106 - Ari Reback - Fairport
4. 102 - Catherine Schoeneman - East Aurora
5. 89 - Allison Bohall - Maple Grove
6. 84 - Samantha Hulme - East Aurora
7. 82 - Emma Frasier - Broadalbin Perth
8. 82 - Emma Murphy - Broadalbin Perth
9. 80 - Jenna Franklin - AC
10. 79 - Arrow Hess - East Aurora
11. 78 - Riley Hulme - East Aurora
12. 75 - Edy Livingston - Bishop Grimes
13. 70 - Natalie Price - Onondaga
14. 65 - Lily Bohall - Maple Grove
In this race East Aurora is the odds on favorite. They should easily win, but the door is open for 2nd and 3rd after that. Some of our girls will battle for the top 20 to take home some hardware. Jenna and Lizzie established their abilities on the track, and now it's time to turn some heads on the XC course. We can't wait!

XC Preview/Summer Camp
Summer camp is less than 1 week away! The coaches plan on meeting this week to figure out final details, but in the mean time I wanted to highlight the season preview posted by Tullyrunners. On the girls side, it looks like a strong class C school (Voorheesville) has dropped down in to class D which is a big shake up at the state level. At the section V level there are no huge surprises. The pre season rankings look like:
1. Addison
2. Honeoye
3. HAC
Last year, we finished 4th by quite a bit to Honeoye, but we return a very solid core of runners. Jenna comes back as the 9th returner from sectionals, while Lizzie (19th), NyVeah (26th), Chloe (27th) and Emma (68th) round out the rest of of top 5 returners. This is a very solid core and adding in a few new faces from the soccer team, along with Lizzie, Nema, Alivia, and NyVeah running year round for the first time ever gets us very excited for the Fall. Yasmin ran outdoor and made huge improvements, along with Mackenzie running some personal bests for the first time post hip injury. The young crew of Zoe, Carly, Grace H, Ellasyn, Kyla, Carmen and Lily make us very optimistic that this Fall could be the best team we have fielded in the last decade. Here is a free scouting report to anyone else checking out our site, based on our track season:
Jenna: 1:05, 2:32, 5:08
Lizzie: 5:22, 11:51, 8:05 (steeple)
NyVeah: 2:39, 5:48, 12:42
Alivia: 2:46
Paige: 2:53, 6:13, 13:50
Jacey: 3:16, 6:33, 13:59
Mackenzie: 1:12, 3:05, 6:25
Nema: 3:18
Yasmin: 3:27, 6:47, 14:38
On the boys side, Tully projects the following teams at the state level:
1. Tri Valley (90)
2. AC (100)
3. Oakfield (110)
4. Port Jefferson (150)
5. Frewsburg (155)
I think Tri-Valley is under-ranked. You can’t get ranked any higher than first, but their point spread compared to the rest of the teams seems incredibly modest. Their top returners track times are below:
Adam Furman: 2:02, 4:22, 9:16
Craig Costa: 4:36, 9:54
Van Furman: 4:43, 9:58
Vincent Mingo: 2:14
Thomas Houghtaling: 5:05, 11:01
Connor Weyant: 2:19, 5:12
Our top returners:
Pierce: 2:03, 4:26, 9:34
Braydon: 2:04, 4:55, 10:44
Salim: 4:57, 10:39
Ibra: 2:07, 4:53, 10:43
Jacob: 5:53, 12:28
John: 5:50, 12:52
Rayhan: 5:41 (1500m)
Pat: 6:31, 14:08
Stu: 6:51, 13:50
Cam K: 5:44 (1500m)
On paper, Tri-Valley has more depth at the 5th position. More pressing, however, is Oakfield as they return their entire top 7 from last Fall. With a new crop. Of younger kids stepping up to varsity and a few new additions to the team, it will be quite the fight to make it back to the state meet.

Alivia: 2:46
Paige: 2:53, 6:13, 13:50
Jacey: 3:16, 6:33, 13:59
Mackenzie: 1:12, 3:05, 6:25
Nema: 3:18
Yasmin: 3:27, 6:47, 14:38
On the boys side, Tully projects the following teams at the state level:
1. Tri Valley (90)
2. AC (100)
3. Oakfield (110)
4. Port Jefferson (150)
5. Frewsburg (155)
I think Tri-Valley is under-ranked. You can’t get ranked any higher than first, but their point spread compared to the rest of the teams seems incredibly modest. Their top returners track times are below:
Adam Furman: 2:02, 4:22, 9:16
Craig Costa: 4:36, 9:54
Van Furman: 4:43, 9:58
Vincent Mingo: 2:14
Thomas Houghtaling: 5:05, 11:01
Connor Weyant: 2:19, 5:12
Our top returners:
Pierce: 2:03, 4:26, 9:34
Braydon: 2:04, 4:55, 10:44
Salim: 4:57, 10:39
Ibra: 2:07, 4:53, 10:43
Jacob: 5:53, 12:28
John: 5:50, 12:52
Rayhan: 5:41 (1500m)
Pat: 6:31, 14:08
Stu: 6:51, 13:50
Cam K: 5:44 (1500m)
On paper, Tri-Valley has more depth at the 5th position. More pressing, however, is Oakfield as they return their entire top 7 from last Fall. With a new crop. Of younger kids stepping up to varsity and a few new additions to the team, it will be quite the fight to make it back to the state meet.

Summer Training
As the high school national meet finishes up today, we begin to think of cross country and summer training! To access the plan, click on Cross Country 2022 and the “summer training” tab. If you are new to the program we recommend following the beginner training plan. The advanced plan is only for a handful of runners that were running between 40 and 50 miles last year. The majority of the team should find themselves on the intermediate plan. Keep in mind that this plan has a big variation in minutes run per day - you have the liberty to adjust within these ranges as you need. The key variables we want to focus on this summer are:
We included descriptions of paces, efforts, etc. at the bottom of the document. We recommend printing it and hanging it on your wall in your room, or somewhere you will see it often. The closer you follow this plan, the more success you will have this Fall and beyond! On both the boys and girls sides, we have the potential to field the most competitive teams we have ever had, but that will only come through hard work between June and September. Please reach out with any questions, and log on Strava so we can see what you are doing. This is critical as we cannot coach you to the best of our ability if we don’t know what you have been doing. It’s the equivalent of showing up to a big job interview without a resume, so help us out here!!!

- Listening to your body
- Finishing EVERY RUN feeling that you could have run further, faster or both
- Doing the SAM workouts 3-4 times weekly so we can stay healthy
- Getting out the door consistently and running (4-6 times per week)
